Direction Program
Direction is a program for High School Juniors and Seniors designed
to encourage students in their “calling” to a career
as a service of faith in the world. Students are assessed in the
individual needs and traits of their personality, areas of interests
in various fields of work/vocation, personal values, educational
planning, family support and faith development. The Theology of
a Christian Calling is explored. The program seeks to:

- Identify individual passions
- Rank your priorities
- Educate on how to move forward
- Create Self-Confidence
- Test for interests and personal needs
- Indulge in a workable plan
- Omit blocks to self confidence
- Navigate the future with confidence
The
Program Goals
- To encourage High School Juniors and Seniors as they explore
their vocational goals and choice of a career.
- To understand Work and Vocation as a Calling from God and
a service of faith in the world.
- To identify the unique gifts of the each youth through professional
testing and
Career Counseling.
- To assist youth in making a concrete plan for choosing a college,
vocational school, college major, career choice and eventually
a job.
- To understand the roles of parents and caring adults in supporting
youth who are in their career decision making process.
- To equip youth for embracing adulthood and their life’s
calling.
The
Plan
Step 1 Each youth will complete an application
and submit the signed consent from by their legal guardians before
testing and counseling may be conducted. The fee of $375 is collected
for all testing and counseling services. Checks are made out to:
Ministry Assessments.
Step 2 Youth will have a 50-minute pre-testing
counseling session to define the process, explore social history
and begin the self-exploration process. The theology of career
as a calling will be outlined.
Step 3 Youth will take the battery of tests
from their home computer using a website and passwords. The tests
are downloaded and evaluated in the Ministry Assessments Office.
Step 4 A post 50-minute counseling session
is done to explore findings from tests and work sheets. In addition,
youth start developing a concrete plan of action for defining
a vocational and career path. Resources are given and ways to
explore specific careers are outlined. Additional counseling sessions
(optional) may be arranged according to need for an additional
fee of $125 for a 50-minute session.
NOTE: The same testing and counseling format
may be done in a group setting of 8 or more youth for a reduced
cost of $250/ participant.
